Gad's Hill Young Embroiderers

Beachcomber project

Each girl made a mat using their discoveries from the beach. Initially, a piece of white cotton was marbled, to simulate the effect of water. A shell was made using tissue paper which had been moulded on a scallop shell, and it was decorated using stitches and beads. The mat was framed using some matching material and the beachcombing discoveries were sewed to the work for the finishing touch.

You can see any of the mats in more detail by clicking on them.
