Backstitch

Get a piece of material and a length of thread.
Thread a needle onto the thread and tie a knot in it. Bring the needle up through the material.
Now bring it back down at the length of stitch you require.
Next, take it back up, as far from
the last stitch as the length of the last stitch.
Now bring the needle back down at the same place the last stitch ended.
Then bring it back up an equal distance away...
And down again where the last stitch ended.
Just carry on like that. Its easy!

And when you've finished it'll look something like this:
