In November 1997, the Embroiderers' Guild had a stand at the Design and Technology Show, NEC, Birmingham. We showed some of the colourful work done by Young Textile Groups (now Young Embroiderers) in the Midlands - Lichfield, Wolverhampton, Marches and Birmingham groups.

Teachers were able to see some of the exciting project books produced by the YTG, and we also asked them to fill in a questionnaire about textile education, which was also available online. All the winning work from the De Denne bursary awards (1997) was on show, some of it with accompanying sketchbooks.

Many people enjoyed Clare Proctor's exuberant embroidered puppets, exciting to look, at wonderful to play with. Clare is the Embroiderers' Guild scholar for 1997.
